For those who fancy a modern electric drive MPV, but with a yearning for the 1966 Volkswagen T1 Microbus, a German company has just the offer, writes Brian Byrne.
The company is eClassics, and they will provide you with a fully refurbished Microbus powered by an 89hp electric motor with a range of around 200 kms.
The refurbishment uses mostly genuine Volkswagen parts, and the electric motor can be fast-charged to 80pc in 40 minutes.
Brakes, steering, and suspension are all upgraded, to provide modern response and also to cope with the extra weight of the battery.
The vehicle is available for €64,000 or so in Germany.
