The days of nerve-tingling exhaust sounds from the iconic Alfa Romeo sports car maker are numbered, writes Brian Byrne.
Parent company Stellantis, formed from the merger of PSA Group and Fiat Chrysler Auto, announced this week that Alfas will be all-electric by 2027. It's thought that the first model may arrive in late 2023, and in the meantime a PHEV will arrive next year.
Stellantis has already committed its Opel brand to be all-electric by 2028, and its Fiats and Jeep by 2030. The group revealed some weeks ago that four electric platforms in development will underpin most models over 14 brands. Range capabilities will be from 480-800kms.
