Alfa Romeo has premiered its Tonale small crossover, which will come with a mild-hybrid engine for Europe and a PHEV for North America, writes Brian Byrne.
It sets Alfa up for its first all-electric car planned for 2025, and the brand becoming all-electric two years later. The production Tonale was concepted back in 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show, before the pandemic disrupted everything.
Alfa owners Stellantis group are targeting the Tonale at BMW's X1 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA. It will arrive as a 2023 model.
