New Transit Courier Van from Ford

Ford have revealed full details of their new Transit Courier Van, writes Brian Byrne. Initially with petrol and diesel engine options, the vehicle will have a full-electric powertrain available later in 2024.

The compact van has a 25pc greater load volume capacity than its predecessor, and also has an increased payload. Thanks to an increased cargo length and greater interior width, the latest Transit Courier can now carry two Euro-pallets.

A modem as standard keeps the vehicle connected for software updates over the air, as well as allowing a subscription based navigation option that provides updates on traffic, parking and local hazards where markets networks allow.

Engine options are 100hp and 125hp variants of Ford's 1.0 EcoBoost petrol engine as well as a 100hp 1.5 diesel. There are 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmission options.

Standard advanced driver assistance systems include Lane-Keeping, Pre-Collision Assist, Intelligent Speed Assist, and rear parking sensors.

The new Transit Courier is now available to order in Ireland, for delivery in March. The electric version is expected here in the last quarter of the year.
