Dacia Spring here in summer

The Dacia Spring electric car will be opening for orders in Ireland in the spring, with a planned market launch this summer, writes Brian Byrne. Sold in European markets since 2021, the Spring will come in RHD form with updated styling, interior and powertrain.

The Spring is aimed at owners who do mainly urban and local driving, with the option of 45hp and 65hp motors, a rated range of some 220km, and energy consumption of 14.6kWh/100km or lower. Regenerative braking has also been added to the specification. Charging from 20pc-100pc is 11 hours on a domestic outlet, 4 hours from a 7kW home wallbox. A fast-charge capability is an optional extra.

There will be three grades, the topmost one including a central infotainment screen. Pricing not yet released for the Irish market.
