Volvo begins production of electric EX60 SUV

Volvo Cars has started production of its new fully electric EX60 SUV at its Torslanda plant in Gothenburg, Sweden, with customer deliveries set to begin in early summer, writes Brian Byrne. The company says strong early demand has already prompted plans to increase 2026 production.

The EX60 is Volvo’s first fully electric car designed, developed, and built in Sweden. Volvo positions the model as a major step in its EV strategy, citing a range of up to 810km and fast-charging capability from 10 to 80 per cent in 16 minutes.

Major upgrades at the Torslanda site include a new battery assembly plant and mega casting capabilities.
