Mitsubishi launch all-new Outlander

The all-new Mitsubishi Outlander has gone on sale in this country priced from €34,950-€39,950 writes Trish Whelan.

Prices quoted are effective for vehicles registered from 1st January 2013.

The new Outlander is more advanced, more spacious, more economical and better equipped than previous generations yet is more fuel-efficient, delivering up to 58.9mpg and has the lowest emissions in its class.

Powered by the brand's own 2.2 DI-D powertrain, the new Outlander is offered in a 5-seater, 2WD, or 7-seater 4WD manual and automatic. This diesel engine delivers up to 150bhp and 380 Nm of torque.

The 2WD 5-seater manual with 126g/km is in Band B for annual road tax, as is the 4WD 7-seater manual. The 4WD 7-seater automatic is in Band C.

It has over 40 safety, comfort and styling features as standard including a luggage floor box.

Standard features on all models include dual front/side/curtain/driver's knee airbags; Active Stability and Traction Control, ABS with EBD, Hill Start Assist, rearview monitor and Emergency Stop System. Exterior styling includes alloy wheels, front fog lights, roof rails privacy glass and daytime running lights.

Comfort and convenience features include cruise control, Bluetooth handsfree with steering wheel controls and voice control, dual zone automatic air conditioning, rearview monitor, remote central locking with keyless entry, and steering wheel adjustment.

Since the first model Outlander launched here over five years ago, over 1,500 have been sold.

The arrival of the new Outlander will herald the start of a new generation of global products for Mitsubishi Motors with 'Global Small', Mitsubishi Motors all-new offering in the B-segment, arriving in Ireland in early 2013, followed by a plug-in hybrid version of the Outlander.
