New electric scooter
by Brian Byrne. Here's the next generation of urban two-wheelers which will be rolling our way at the beginning of 2006.
The Vectrix electric maxi-scooter has a top speed of 100 km/h and a quick 2-hour recharge that delivers up to 100 kilometres of operation.
With a zero to 80 km/h in under 7 seconds, it is comparable to a Mini Cooper.
The scooter has throttle-activated regenerative braking and a slow-speed reverse function for easy parking. And it can be recharged from a standard 110/220V power socket.
The estimated battery life is 10 years.
