Toyota leads by lengths

by Brian Byrne. Toyota is the clear leader in passenger vehicle sales for the first four months of the year, registering 14,626 units and taking just on 14 percent of market share.

Ford follows with 12,223 cars and an 11.6 percent share, while Nissan with 8,849 and 8.4 percent, VW with 7,790 and 7.4 percent, and Renault with 7,619 and 7.2 percent fill out the top five performers.

The market itself is up 13.4 percent on the same period last year. The light commercial sector has recorded a 29 percent increase in unit sales over the same period.
