by Brian Byrne. Suzuki expects to sell almost half of its 125,000 production of the next-generation Grand Vitara in Europe.
Some 60,000 units of the new vehicle are slated for European markets, while the US is expected to take 40,000 of the balance.
Some 70 percent of the new version sales in Europe are expected to be diesels. The car will have a new diesel engine, but the source has not yet been revealed. The current 2-litre diesel is from PSA Peugeot-Citroen.
The next generation Grand Vitara has gone on sale in Japan as the Escudo. The European version will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
