An annual study by the Irish Tyre Industry Association (ITIA) suggests a sharp increase in the number of illegal tyres on our roads.
The inspection of thousands of tyres submitted for replacement at tyre depots found 47% were already below the legal tread limit of 1.6mm – a 17% increase on this time last year.
