Next open 3 Series is hard-top

The very successful BMW 3-Series convertible is to be replaced by a folding hard-top format car.

The new car is expected to come on the market in spring 2007, and the roof will be supplied and fitted in a 'factory within a factory' at BMW's Regensburg plant in Germany by a roof specialist company, Edscha.

The current generation 3 Cabriolet sold more than 40,000 units last year, and in 2002, its best year, some 54,000 were built. — — Brian Byrne.
