Though very new to diesels -- the current 2.2-litre one was only developed a few years ago -- Honda is already working on one that they say will be the cleanest possible in terms of nitorgen oxide emissions.
The engine will be based on the current 2.2 and will be available in cars sold in in Europe, North America and Japan.
Diesels are not used much in passenger cars in those latter two markets.
