The Nissan Tiida hatchback and sedan due for launch in Ireland later in the year will be produced for European markets in Mexico.
The Tiida replaces the Almera and has become familiar in other markets such as Australia and similar Pacific Rim countries. In the US it is known as the Versa.
It will be powered by a new aluminium 1.5 litre petrol engine and a diesel is also likely.
The company will export 12,000 Tiidas to Europe this year. It expects to increase the number to 30,000 annually. BB
