Toyota has overtaken General Motors in quarterly sales for the first time, making it the world’s biggest carmaker.
Toyota sold 2.348 million vehicles worldwide in the January to March period, topping the 2.26 million vehicles that GM sold in the same period.
While these figures represent only quarterly results, analysts say it’s only a matter of time before the Japanese automaker surpasses GM on an annual basis.
GM has been the world’s number one carmaker for more than 70 years.
