Penalty points swappers

Almost half a million motorists in Britain have swapped penalty points with family and friends in order to avoid losing their licences or being penalised by their insurers.

According to the survey by Churchill Insurance, 9.5 million of the nation's 33 million drivers said they would accept their loved ones' points if they were on the verge of losing their licence.

The practice is illegal and can lead to prosecution.

One in ten motorists surveyed were willing to ask their partners to take the blame for other driving offences such as crashing red lights, driving using a mobile phone and driving without insurance. BB.
