Spain introducing API

Passengers flying to Spain will have to provide extra information from June 13, with the Spanish government introducing US-style entry procedures to countries not signed up to the Shengen Agreement.

Such visitors entering Spain will have to submit Advance Passenger Information (API), which includes full names, nationality, passport number

Spain is the first European country to require the collection of API for visitors, but the policy will be introduced in other EU member countries during the next year.

There are warnings of delays as the airlines collect the information; it is the carrier's responsibility to provide it. BB.
