More than two-thirds of BMW entry level variants across its models range will fall in price when the VRT charging shifts to a CO2 based regime on July 1.
A typical example is the 118d, which will costs €29,192, compared with €34,600 under the outgoing VRT system.
Under the banner EfficientDynamics BMW vehicles employ a range technologies such as Brake Energy Regeneration, Auto Start-Stop and Electric Power Steering to help cut fuel bills and emissions.
BMW has introduced EfficientDynamics across almost all of its range in 2007. The Group is on target to meet its commitment to reduce the CO2 emissions of the combined fleet by 30 per cent by the end of 2008 compared to 1995 figures.
From 1 July 2008 the 318i ES Saloon, 2.0-litre petrol, will cost €36,366, a reduction of €4,484. At 142 CO2 g/km it will be in Band C. The 318d ES Saloon, 320d ES Saloon, and 520d SE Saloon will all be rated in Band B.
