India to be world carmaker?

It's not just the Chinese carmakers that are looking to export car models of their own to western markets. India is looking, too. And more, testing the waters.

As we hear that Ratan Tata may follow up his purchase of Jaguar and Land Rover by exporting a version of his upcoming Nano minicar to Europe, another maker from the sub-continent, San, is launching its two seat Storm convertible in Britain in mid-summer.

The Storm is built in Goa in southern India, and will sell in Britain for the equivalent of 12,700 euros.

The franchisees, Dream Machines, say they'll look to selling in continental Europe if the Storm succeeds in Britain.
