The vehicle will have launch engines of a 2.0 170hp diesel, a 2.0 211hp TFSI petrol and a 3.0 diesel. A 3.2 petrol version will be available later.
It will also be available with the new 7-speed version of Audi's S tronic dual clutch gearbox, at an estimated extra cost of €3,000.
Audi Ireland's general manager John Hayes says the Q5 is coming just at the right time for the brand here, as the changeover to CO2 based taxation will hit sales of large SUVs like Audi's very successful Q7.
Audi Ireland sold around 1,000 Q7s in the 24 months since it was launched, a figure that exceeded initial expectations.
The Q5, which is based on the A4 platform, will feature additional technology such as blind spot and lane change warnings, as well as an adaptive suspension.
