Scrappage working in Germany too?

As it seems to have done also in France, a government scrappage scheme in Germany looks like it has stopped the nosedive of car sales in that country.

The incentive will give €2,500 cash back to motorists who register a new car and scrap another at least nine years old.

Motor industry sources say car dealers have reported a 'brisk upturn' in business following news of the incentive.

Last year's car sales in Europe's biggest car market exceeded three million units, and now they're hoping to match that in 2009.
