The Honda Civic has been confirmed with a 5-star ENCAP rating in a re-assessment under the crash test programme's tougher new regime.
The new system considers occupant protection in frontal, side, pole and rear impacts, child protection, pedestrian protection and the availability of driver aids. The Honda Civic has been awarded the maximum 5-star rating with an overall score of 77 percent. A minimum score of 70 percent overall is necessary to achieve a 5-star rating.
To qualify for inclusion, electronic vehicle stability assistance devices (VSA for Honda) must be fitted, as standard across 85 percent of the EU 27 2009 model range.
The rating follows on from the 5-star result achieved by the new Honda Accord.
