Grange Builders Providers, Baldoyle, Dublin has just taken delivery of a new Smith Newton 10 tonne truck with a box body and taillift, the first such vehicle to go into service in Ireland.
The latest “zero carbon emissions” arrival, powered by the most modern Lithium-Ion Phosphate batteries and a 120kw induction motor will be used for the delivery of Granges vast array of building and DIY products.
The Smith Newton motors along at a top speed of 80km/h and can travel up to 160kms from a single charge, ideal for city or large town use. This vehicle provides a 100% reduction in air pollution and carbon dioxide emissions at the point of use and if recharged with renewable energy, its daily operations will leave no carbon footprint. Additionally, noise pollution is almost non existent.
It also has a regenerative braking system that recharges the batteries when the vehicle slows. This smoother braking system reduces wear and tear on the brakes and prolongs tyre life.
