This seventh generation Alto comes when the Alto is celebrating its 30-year anniversary. It is the fifth generation of the car to be sold in Ireland.

The Alto is powered by a three-cylinder 67bhp 1.0 engine returning a combined fuel consumption of just 4.4 L/100 kms or 64.2 mpg and producing C02 emissions as low as 103g/km which qualifies it for €104 annual road tax (Band A), the cheapest classification available.

Alto, available in both five-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission, is aimed mostly at urban buyers. With a turning circle of just 4.5m, it can turn in the smallest of spaces, ideal for city streets, and for parking.

Safety features include crushable structores that absorb impact energy, ABS with EBD, and four airbags. Also standard are front electric windows, air conditioning, remote central locking and iPod connection.

Prices start at €11,500 and €13,295. Pictured at the launch are Declan Maguire and Michael McBarron, of Suzuki Ireland, at the launch. TW
