Facts about the auto industry

The automotive industry in Europe is the world's largest vehicle producer, and raises more than €400 billion in tax revenues for European governments.

With some 15 major players, the industry has over 250 manufacturing plants located in 18 countries across Europe.

It provides some 12 million direct and indirect jobs, in a supply chain involving metals, plastics, chemicals and textiles, as well as electric and electronic systems.

The industry exports over €40 billion worth of vehicles from Europe and invests some €20 billion in research and development.
