IF in ferries encouragment plan

Irish Ferries is participating in a campaign hosted by the Passenger Shipping Association to promote ferry travel.

In company with all ferry operators throughout the UK and Ireland, the campaign is designed to encourage new people to take a ferry holiday.

A central element in the campaign lays emphasis on the ten top reasons to travel by ferry. These include the refinement that has come from the millions spent on new vessels, the speed and versatility of shorter check-in times, the absence of baggage restrictions and the introduction of fast ferries plus the flexibility and savings that come from the choice of fare options and cost-cutting deals that are available.

Other factors deemed to be attractive to a new generation of ferry users are the freedom that comes from travel by car or bike, the enjoyment of caravanning, camping and such like, the pet friendly facilities provided by ferry companies, the civilized nature of ferry travel with its chic cabins, lounges, shopping, cinemas and restaurants, not to mention the refreshing experience of being able to roam freely and enjoy the sea air.

With 36 million passenger journeys being made by ferry each year, and with air travel becoming more restrictive by the day, Irish Ferries Head of Passenger Sales, Declan Mescall claims that travel by ferry is on what he terms “the verge of another renaissance”.
