Mondello weekend schedule

This Saturday and Sunday (May 9/10) Mondello Park will host a National Championship Car Race Event run by the Motor Enthusiasts Club on the International circuit.

The two-day 22-race programme will feature the UK Legends championship making its annual appearance this time bolstered by additional entries from the new Irish series. The legends will have a championship round each day making six races for the exciting motorcycle engined cars over the weekend.

Almost all of the Irish championships will feature over the weekend with each class completing their races on a single day, giving two entirely different race programme’s on the two days. Saturday’s main Legends support will be the Formula Vee class where the usual thirty plus single-seaters will line up for a qualifying race and a final. Also on Saturdays’ bill will be Formula Libre, Fiat Punto’s and Uno’s and Historics.

Sunday’s supporting cast will include Formula Sheane and the Abarth Cup as the main single seater and saloon classes, while the Strykers will be the strongest grid of the sports car classes. Also running on Sunday will be the Porsche Open Series and the Saloon Car Challenge with the possibility that some Dunlop Supercars could make their first appearance of the season. The weekend's action will be rounded out by an all-comers race which offers all closed wheel categories a rare extra opportunity to race on the International circuit.

Qualifying gets underway at 9:15 both days with the first race scheduled for 11:15 on Saturday and 10:55 on Sunday. Following a lunch break at 13:00 racing will recommence at 14:00 on both days. Due to the length of the circuit and the crowded programme some classes may be combined to create a more relaxed and exciting race programme on Sunday.

Admission charges per day: Adult admission €15, accompanied under 16s free. Family Admission €25.
