Toyota is to start building a hybrid version of its Auris hatchback in Britain next year.
The Auris was launched in the Spring of 2007, replacing the hatchback variant of the Corolla compact family car.
The new version will be the first mainstream Toyota-branded model in Europe to offer a hybrid option.
The Auris as currently sold in this country comes with a choice of 1.4 diesel or petrol engines. A 1.3 petrol has replaced the 1.4 in Britain.
