With 80,000 people expected to attend ‘Oxegen’ this weekend, the Road Safety Authority (RSA), Oxegen promoters MCD and Kildare County Council are appealing to music fans travelling to and from the festival to consider public transport if they can and if they are travelling by car to take extra care.
The RSA will be joining forces with Kildare County Council to run a road safety radio campaign on youth oriented stations and 2FM during Oxegen. In addition billboards featuring four young people from County Kildare who died following separate crashes in 2005 and 2007 will be displayed throughout the festival area.
The RSA will also target festival goers to Oxegen with mobile advertising billboards and road safety messages will be played on the big stage screens before and after each of the headline acts. Oxegen festival planners will carry an anti-drink drive message and extensive road safety messaging has been organised in festival supplements in national newspapers.
