SEAT will be launching three performance version of its Ibiza supermini here towards the end of the year.
The FR, Cupra and Bocanegra versions will be powered by either 150hp or 180hp variants of the 1.4 dual charged petrol engine.
The powertrains will include the 7-speed version of the Volkswagen Group's DSG automated manual transmission, the first time that the combination has been used across the Group in this segment.
The Bocanegra version is a special edition with styling details that reflect the brand's 1200 Sport from 34 years ago. That model was only available in Spain and was nicknamed Bocanegra because of the black detailing around the grille and lights.
SEAT has also introduced a new 1.6 diesel to Ibiza range in European markets. It replaces the old 1.9 diesel and is substantially more efficient. It meets the Euro5 emissions standard for diesel engines which will be mandatory from 2011.
SEAT designer Christopher Axe talks about the new Ibiza FR, Cupra and Bocanegra.
