New XF prices released

The 2012 Jaguar XF goes on sale from September 1 with a brand new entry engine and a new grade level, writes Brian Byrne.

With a 190hp 2.2 diesel, the starting price of the SE grade is now €44,995, bringing the model into a much more competitive price position. It also brings the XF down to tax band C in Irish terms.

There are substantial exterior and interior changes in what the company describes as a 'Major Freshening' upgrade to the XF, which has been on sale for nearly four years.

Standard specification across the range includes an 8-speed automatic transmission, variable Drive Control and a 7-inch colour touchscreen. Moving up the Luxury, Premium and Portfolio grades adds significant further comfort and driver assist items.

The top of the range is the 5.0 V8 SC XFR at €114,495, which has been dropped in price by almost €3,000.

In the new pricing structure, the 3.0 V6 petrol engine has been dropped from the Irish market. It was previously the entry level at €49,995, but was in tax band G, the highest for road tax and VRT.

With new efficiencies, helped by technologies like the intelligent stop/start, the 3.0D cars have dropped from Band E to Band D.
