Pixo puts it up in price

Nissan's new Pixo city car goes on sale in Ireland at a base price of €9,895, the cheapest car in the segment.

Powered by a 1.0 petrol engine it has a CO2 emissions rating of 103g/km. There are two grades, SV and SVE, and an automatic version is available.

The A segment in which it is positioned has doubled in size in the last year and some industry sources believe it will double again next year. Since 1982, the B segment Micra has been Nissan's entry level car, and the arrival of the Pixo completes the small car offerings from the brand along with the Note.

Nissan Ireland has set a conservative forecast of achieving 150 units sales in the first quarter of 2010. In the sequence below, the company's Paul O'Sullivan talks to Brian Byrne about the positioning and strategy for the new car.
