The owner of several Renault dealerships, and previously the brand's importer, he said Renault is very involved in the electric car business, but that he will also be talking to a number of other carmakers with electric cars at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
And he said the infrastructure to allow electric cars to travel long distances in Ireland will be in place 'in his lifetime'.
He made the comments on Marion Finucane's radio programme on Saturday.
