Low CO2 cars selling best

More than four out of ten new cars sold so far in Ireland this year are in the B CO2 tax band, between 120-140g/km.

In figures compiled by Motorcheck.ie, it is also revealed that almost seven out of ten new cars are in the A or B bands. C and D band cars are one in four of the total.

More than six out of ten sold are diesel, reflecting the VRT shifts that favour lower CO2 emissions cars.

Up to last weekend, 7,947 new cars were registered.
