Sat-nav traffic messages coming

Dublin City Council will be introducing a sat-nav traffic information system in March.

The Traffic Message Channel system has been available in many European countries for quite a long time, and indicate both traffic congestion and the exact location.

Current situations with existing infrastructures, such as the Port Tunnel, the M50 and traffic restricted areas like College Green will also be flagged.

Current sat-nav systems here may have to be updated with a receiver, as some may have been sold without receivers to keep the price down.

The update may cost around €30.
