Volkswagen has unveiled a new coupe sized between the Golf and the Passat which uses a hybrid system to achieve a 67mpg+ economy and sub-100g/km CO2.
The Compact Coupe was revealed at the Detroit Motor Show with a powertrain based on a 150hp turbocharged 1.4 petrol engine and an electric motor with the equivalent of 27hp available.
The motor car work on its own for short slow traffic situations, or boost power when needed in overtaking.
The car offers an 8.6 seconds 0-100km/h performance.
