Faulty landing aid may have caused Tripoli crash

The VOR radio beacon landing system at Tripoli Airport may have been the cause of the fatal crash which killed over a hundred people.

According to the Times of London, pilots had reported errors in the system due to building work at the airport, and a navigation advisory said pilots should make visual checks before landing.

However, there are reports that the sun may have been directly in the pilots' eyes as they approached the airport, which lacks a modern automated landing system.
