Ford, Renault, Skoda top scrappage

Although only a small percentage of car sales this year are related to the scrappage scheme, it has been something of a kick-start to the badly-needed rebound in the business.

Ten distributors here have been the main beneficieries, according to figures released by the Revenue in relation to scrappage.

The biggest in numbers terms is Ford, with 826 scrappage deals, or 17 percent of the scrappage segment. Renault came next with 789 deals and Skoda third with 455 units.

The other scrappage brands are, in descending order, Toyota, VW, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Opel and Fiat.

Scrappage represents just over 8 percent of total car sales so far this year.
