Ford remains as top dog

Ford is the biggest seller of new cars in Ireland in the first five months of this year.

With 8,008 cars registered, Ford has 13.44 percent of the Irish market, from Toyota (12.03%), Volkswagen (11.67%), Renault (9.44%), and Opel (6.79%). The rest of the top ten are Nissan, Skoda, Peugeot, Hyundai and Audi.

The top ten brands control between them 76 percent of the Irish new passenger car market in numerical terms, with 26 other marques taking up the balance.

The biggest improvement is shown by Renault, with a 193 percent increase in sales.
