Driverless cars in a brand new city

Driverless electric cars which navigate through tunnels under a brand new city are just one feature that will make Masdar, 30km from Abu Dhabi, the world's first carbon-neutral mass living space.

The first residents began moving in last week to the sustainable city, designed by architects Foster & Partners.

This slide show from the New York Times is well worth a look at part of mankind's future. And begs the question: is it time to start from scratch and plan to leave our existing energy-wasteful cities?
