The new Honda CR-Z hybrid sports car goes on sale in Ireland on January 1 at a start price of €26,630.
The first hybrid with a manual gearbox, the CR-Z will be available initially in two grades, Sport and GT. An entry 'S' model will be available in the spring.
The CR-Z powertrain has a 114hp 1.5 petrol engine with an integrated 14hp electric motor, with an overall 117g/km CO2 emissions. Economy and performance can be managed via a 3-mode drive system that changes the characteristics of the throttle, steering, stop/start timing, climate control, and how the integrated motor assist works.
The 0-100km/h performance is rated at 9.9 seconds.
A similar system will be introduced to the Jazz supermini next year.
Honda will then have four hybrid cars in its range, the Civic IMA, the Insight, the CR-Z and the Jazz.
