The Toyota Verso has been named as a safest MPV of 2010 by the European New Car Assessment Programme.
The Verso scored 89 percent for adult occupancy, 75 percent for child occupancy, 69 percent for pedestrian impact and 86 percent for safety assistance.
In the Executive category the BMW 5 Series was the best performer; the Small Family category top car was the Alfa Romeo Giulietta; the Honda CR-Z took the Supermini category; the Kia Sportage won the Small off-road 4×4 category.
Euro NCAP crash tested 29 vehicles in 2010, 65 percent of which reached the five star rating, compared to 90 percent in 2009. This decrease of 25 percent clearly shows that Euro NCAP’s criteria to reach a five stars are now tougher.
Euro NCAP’s poorest results of 2010 were achieved by the Citroen Nemo with three stars and by the Landwind CV9 which received only two stars.
