New Corsas due next week

The first units of the 2011 Opel Corsa are scheduled to arrive in Irish dealerships next week, showing in particular a new front end treatment. The powertrains and chassis were upgraded last year.

The car gets a new double-blade grille in the style started with the Insignia and then rolled out through the rest of the German maker's range as it brought on new generation models.

There are also new lights, a larger lower grille, and extra chrome detailing around the fog light recesses.

This revision is to the fourth generation of the model, which alone has been bought by 2m people. In Ireland Corsa represents 25 percent of the brand's sales.

A new Limited Edition is now on sale in Ireland with special painted alloys, a stripes decoration and other extras.

Corsa is available here at prices ranging from €14,350-€30,205, the top end being the 1.6 turbo OPC. It has been available to order since December of last year.

Other engines include a 65hp 1.0 petrol, 1.2 and 1.4 petrols, and 1.3 diesels in 75/95hp variants. Both are Band A rated and gain the EcoFlex badge from Opel signifying high efficiency.

There are four grades, S, SC, SXi and SE. In addition to 3- and 5-door versions, a new CorsaVan is also coming.
