New Mazda5 on sale in Ireland

The new generation Mazda5 now on sale here has a starting price of €24,995, rising to €29,995.

The strongly styled competitor to Ford's new Grand C-MAX, Peugeot's 5008 and the Renault Grand Scenic is available only as a 7-seat, with sliding rear doors.

Mazda Ireland claims the car to be a 'very compelling package' compared to competitors in terms of specification for the price points.

The powertrain is a 1.6 diesel outputting 115hp and rated in Band B. A new 6-speed transmission and 120kg in overall weight savings contribute to significant fuel economy improvements against the previous model.

The engine characteristics include more power and a wider torque band, improving drivability.

Better seats and improved suspension are other parts of the package which Mazda Ireland suggests will result in 250 units sold this year.

The company has also launched a revised Mazda3 and Mazda2 for 2011. They have style, engines and comfort changes.
