A Mazda MX-5 with a big bite has just been let out of its cage for the first time.
The MX-5 GT weights just 850kg and can reach 100km/h in only a scorching three seconds.
The weight loss owes much to the use of carbon and carbon fibre, while the power of 275hp is churned out through a 6-speed sequential gearbox from 'a modified' Mazda engine.
The car is entered in the Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship which is contested over nine races from March to November, including a race at the Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. The first race is a 3-hour endurance race at Silverstone next weekend, Saturday 26 March 2011.
