All models in the range also feature City Safety as standard - technology that can reduce or entirely avoid a rear end impact up to 30 km/h by automatically applying the brakes to bring the car to a standstill if it senses a collision with the car in front and the driver hasn't reacted.
The Volvo V60 and S60 are available with Pedestrian Detection technology which checks for pedestrians moving in front of the car.
Volvo have also developed technology to avoid collisions with wild animals on the road. However, animals need to be careful for a while yet as it will not be available until a few years' time. The system consists of a radar sensor and an infra-red camera.
Volvo aim to have nobody killed or seriously injured in a Volvo car by 2020.
