Ford drops C-MAX sales plan in US

Ford has dropped plans to sell the 7-seat version of its C-MAX compact MPV in the US.

The reasons include a price positioning at around $25,000 which would have made it a hard sell against larger competitor minivans.

The vehicle, which would have been built in the US, was slated for rollout next year. Instead, the company says it will launch what it calls a 'compact hatch' 5-seater, in hybrid and plug-in hybrid forms only.

It will also, however, be called C-MAX.
