Peugeot reveals new Peugeot 508 RXH ahead of Frankfurt

Peugeot has released details of its new 508 RXH, an exclusive new all-road diesel-electric hybrid which will have its world premier at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September, writes Trish Whelan.

The car is equipped with Peugeot's new 2.0 HDi FAP HYbrid4 drive train, a world first when it features in the 3008 Hybrid4 later this year.

This drive unit offers a top power of 200hp, 4-wheel-drive capabilities and has a maximum torque of 450 Nm. A zero-emissions-vehicle, the 100 per cent electric mode kicks in to start the car and when driving in town. Once the diesel engine comes alive, the car can achieve consumption figures of 4.2 L/100km (combined cycle) emissions as low as 109g/km of C02.

The car is higher and wider than the 508 SW and has a premium quality interior and upholstery. Peugeot say it 'will be richly equipped' with standard features.
