Defender gets new engine

Land Rover has introduced a new 2.2 diesel engine to its iconic Defender, providing EU5 emissions performance, and the same power, torque and fuel consumption from the smaller engine.

The new power unit is also claimed to be quieter and more refined than the outgoing 2.4 diesel. With 122hp and 360Nm of torque, CO2 emissions are 266g/km for the 90 and 295g/km for the 110 and 130.

The Defender's roots can be traced back to 1948, and the vehicle has been the foundation stone of the brand with its go-anywhere ability.
