Hyundai launches i40 in Ireland
The Hyundai i40 has gone on sale in Ireland at a starting price of €24,995.
Aimed at bringing the brand into what Hyundai calls the 'modern premium' segment, it is available initially in Tourer format, in two specification levels and with two engine powers. An automatic is available.
The Irish distributor is anticipating a keen interest from fleet operators, and the saloon version will be on sale before the end of the year.
The car is A rated for Road Tax purposes at its basic level, offering the equivalent of 67mpg. The 1.7 diesel engines output 115/136hp.
The distributor claims that over three years there will be an €1,100 fuel saving against an equivalent Toyota Avensis, on an estimated 25,000kms a year.
Safety specifications include 9 airbags.
A 'roadshow' through Irish dealers over the last two months has already resulted in more than a hundred pre-orders.
Standard specification includes Bluetooth phone links and aircon.
